Vocabulary
Terms you will encounter while using Legra.
Organizing work
Workspace An encrypted collection of structured data, documents, and branches with its own membership and access rules. See Workspaces.
Corpus A body of knowledge used together, including documents, facts, and relationships. A governed corpus has access rules, a review process, and recorded sources and change history. See Working with AI.
Branch A named line of work within a workspace. Use it for a shared dataset, an import review, a draft, or an experiment.
Commit A recorded version of a branch's data. Its identifier lets you refer to that version when reviewing changes.
Merge Applying changes from one branch to another after review.
Delta The facts added or removed between two versions.
Activity journal A recorded history of workspace activity, used to inspect actions and outcomes alongside commits and provenance.
Task An operation whose progress and result you can inspect, such as an asynchronous query.
Workspace app A set of views and actions for a particular kind of work, enabled within a workspace.
Use case A business outcome and the work needed to achieve it.
Story A specific action or requirement within a use case, described from the perspective of the person or agent doing the work.
Persona A role or perspective used to describe who needs a capability.
Describing data
RDF Resource Description Framework, a standard model for expressing facts and relationships.
Triple A subject, predicate, and object expressing a fact, such as "Alice knows Bob."
Graph A collection of triples. A named graph has an IRI so you can select it in queries and keep datasets distinguishable.
Default graph The graph selected by a query pattern that does not name a graph. It is not automatically the union of the named graphs.
Quad A triple together with its graph name, as represented in formats such as N-Quads.
IRI Internationalized Resource Identifier, a name for a resource or relationship. An IRI can look like a web address without being a page you visit.
Literal A value such as text, a number, or a date, optionally with a datatype or language tag.
Ontology A vocabulary defining concepts and relationships for a subject area.
Querying and checking
SPARQL A query and update language for RDF data.
Cypher A graph query language supported by Legra.
GQL Graph Query Language, an ISO standard for graph queries.
Graph pattern Conditions describing the facts and relationships a query should match.
Inference A fact derived from other facts and rules. If every doctor is a person and Alice is a doctor, Alice can also be recognized as a person.
Provenance Information explaining a fact's sources or the changes that led to it. Use it when reviewing trust, origin, and accountability.
SHACL Shapes Constraint Language, used to express requirements for RDF data.
Validation Checking data or a statement against applicable requirements. Statement syntax checks and workspace data-quality checks serve different purposes.
Access and connections
Identity The identifier associated with a person, organization, or device when it acts in Legra.
Wallet The account resource through which you manage identities and balances.
Member An identity granted access to a workspace under a role such as reader, writer, or administrator.
Revocation Removal of access. It does not retrieve previously exported copies.
Node A running Legra participant that you can connect to for workspace operations.
Gateway An HTTP access point for applications using Legra's API.
Connection ticket A value used to connect to a particular node. Workspace authorization is still required.
MCP Model Context Protocol, used by AI clients to discover and call tools.
Graph Store Protocol An HTTP interface for retrieving and changing RDF
graphs. Legra's endpoint is /graph-store; see HTTP API.
