    Review data changes

    Learn how to test a data change on a branch, review the result, and merge it into your shared dataset.

    Prerequisites

    Complete the Quickstart. Keep the same workspace selected, with write access and its sample data on main.

    Create your branch

    legra graph branch create add-carol --from main

    Add a person

    legra graph update 'INSERT DATA { GRAPH <https://example.org/quickstart> { <https://example.org/carol> <https://example.org/name> "Carol" . } }' --branch add-carol

    Save this query as review-people.rq:

    SELECT ?name WHERE {
      GRAPH <https://example.org/quickstart> {
        ?person <https://example.org/name> ?name
      }
    }
    ORDER BY ?name

    Compare the results

    legra graph query review-people.rq --branch add-carol --format tsv
    legra graph query review-people.rq --branch main --format tsv

    Your proposal should show Alice, Bob, and Carol. The original main branch should still show Alice and Bob. If you see different results, check your workspace selection and whether the sample data has changed since the Quickstart.

    Accept the proposal

    After reviewing Carol's new record, merge the branch:

    legra graph update 'MERGE BRANCH "add-carol" INTO "main"'

    Run the query on main again and confirm that Carol is included. If the merge fails, address the reported problem before continuing.

    Once verification succeeds, delete the completed proposal branch:

    legra graph branch delete add-carol

    You have kept a proposed change separate until review and then made it available on the shared branch. Adapt the same workflow to imports and updates using the Branching guide.
